Ever since forming in 2008, The Strumbellas have built their name on the kind of songs that make strangers feel like they belong in the same room: anthemic, folk-hearted, and emotionally unguarded. The Canadian alt-rock band released their debut, My Father and the Hunter, in 2012 and spent the decade that followed cementing their place at the forefront of the alt-rock and alt-country worlds. Hope (2016) and Rattlesnake (2019) earned them two JUNO Awards and a devoted international following, while their breakout single "Spirits" went triple platinum, surpassed 1.1 billion streams, topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart, and brought them to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Now fronted by Jimmy Chauveau, the band entered a new chapter with Burning Bridges Into Dust, their October 2025 EP. Produced by GRAMMY-nominated Chad Copelin, the six-song collection ventures into moodier, more cinematic territory without sacrificing the soaring hooks, stomping rhythms, and emotional sincerity that have long defined The Strumbellas. Live in Limbo called it "a triumphant return," while RIFF Magazine praised the band's ability to balance infectious melodies with musical complexity. The EP's focus track, "Hanging Out In My Head," pairs bright banjo lines with an irresistible groove, finding lightness in the all-too-human struggle to quiet a racing mind.
