To whomever it may concern,
I am writing you today as Co-Chair to White Plains’ Earth Week 2012 and the Sustain White Plains Celebration, in White Plains, NY. I am currently a Senior at White Plains High School, though I am working closely with the Mayor, Common Council, and Superintendent of Schools to plan this, the second annual Earth Week.
With Earth Week 2011 earning a complete turnout of roughly 10,000 (the Sustain White Plains Celebration accounting for roughly half of that number), it is our hope to attract more people from our city of 60,000 residents (with 200,000 flowing through on any given day due to White Plains’ recognition as a business and shopping hub 45 minutes north of NYC) in order to educate people about environmentalism, and motivate them to become more active in our collective community. The event planned is to be outdoors, on a stage that is to be set up on the grounds of the high school (which has roughly 75 acres of land). We hope to raise awareness and funds for environmental causes ranging from those on the local level to those more relevant to the world as a whole.
I am aware that your label/bands must be very busy, but it is my hope that you will be able to consider attending or that you may offer any suggestions or helpful contacts.
