GLASSNOTE RECORDS ANNOUNCE SIGNING OF MADISEN WARD AND THE MAMA BEAR
New York, NY- Glassnote Entertainment Group is excited to introduce the newest addition to the independent label’s roster with the worldwide signing of Kansas City-based band, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear.
Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, a mother-and-son duo, consists of singer/guitarist and songwriter Madisen Ward and his mother, Ruth, also on vocals and guitar. The duo has been playing together in their hometown of Kansas City, building a small and under the radar following over the past few years. Recently, a trip to the Americana Music Festival in Nashville has found the band in the national spotlight, garnering critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, NPR, PASTE, CMT Edge and more for their mesmerizing songwriting, vocals and live dynamic. As Aquarium Drunkard states, “…there is unique, intangible magic about them that deepens the experience – a solemn, thoughtfulness in their delivery and a mysterious beauty flowing from their voices, their guitars and their bond.”
Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear are currently working on their debut album, which is expected in early 2015 via Glassnote Records.

“…the duo’s raw, inscrutable chemistry was in full effect as they handily made a case as an inevitable force to be reckoned with in the days to come.” - Rolling Stone Country, 20 Best Things We Saw at Americana Music Fest 2014
"…the acoustic guitar duo of Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear… created a sensation." – Ann Powers, NPR MUSIC
“There is NOTHING more beautiful raw and perfect as Madisen Ward & The Mama Bear in this entire country right now.” — Sean Moeller, Paste Magazine
“I was absolutely blown away by this unique mother-and-son duo and their homespun acoustic back porch blues. Their interactions with each other and with the intimate crowd were engaging, warm and welcoming…. it’s safe to say that Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear turned in my favorite surprise set of this year’s festivities.” — Will Hodge, CMT EDGE
"…there is unique, intangible magic about them that deepens the experience – a solemn, thoughtfulness in their delivery and a mysterious beauty flowing from their voices, their guitars and their bond." — Chad Depasquale, Aquarium Drunkard
“Ward’s voice has a strange texture; rich and dramatic as if it wants to bellow big enough for an opera house, yet strained with the shards of emotion that litter the generational voices of soul singers. Then there are the different vocal personalities he portrays… Ward throws his voice from falsetto yelps to low growls in an instant while retaining the same familiarity despite leaping across an emotional spectrum…” — I Guess I’m Floating
